New Male Studies: An International Journal (NMS) is an open access online interdisciplinary forum for research and discussions of issues facing boys and men worldwide. In response to a now well-documented decline in the overall well-being of males in postmodern culture, a group of Australia, American and European scholars have gathered to work together to publish research , essays, opinion pieces, and book reviews on all aspects of the male experience. Contributions are welcomed from all serious scholars and writers in the areas of anthropology, biology, economics, education, history, law, literature, medicine, psychology and sociology.

Manuscript preparation New Male Studies publishes regular articles (7,500 to 8,500 words) and brief reports (2,500 to 3,000 words). Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the standard style of their discipline. Formatting instructions and instructions on the preparation of abstracts, text with designated headers (A-level through C-level), references, tables, and figures appear in the Manual. All copy must be double-spaced, 12pt New Times Roman.

Abstract and keywords All manuscripts must include an abstract containing a maximum of 120 words typed on a separate page. After the abstract, please supply up to five keywords or brief phrases.

References References should be listed in alphabetic order (also double-spaced), using the hanging indent style. Each listed reference must have been cited in the text, and each text citation should be listed in the References. Basic formats are as follows:

Figures Graphic files are accepted if supplied as Tiff files (.tiff). High-quality printouts (300 dpi) are needed for all figures. The minimum line weight for line art is 0.5 point for optimal printing.

Review Procedure New Male Studies uses a blinded review process. Authors are asked to include all identifying information in a cover letter attached as a separate document. Include the manuscript title, the authors names, institutional affiliations, and e-mail addresses. The first page of the manuscript should include only the article's title, abstract, and keywords. Footnotes containing information that would reveal the authors identity and/or affiliation should be removed. Every effort should be made to see that the manuscript itself contains no clues to the author's identity.

Permissions When an article has been accepted, authors are required to obtain and provide to the editor all necessary permissions to reproduce in print and electronic form any copyrighted work, including, for example, photographs of people.

Publication Policy Our policy prohibits publication of a manuscript that has already been published in whole or substantial part elsewhere. Authors of manuscripts describing research using human participants are required to comply with ethical standards in the treatment of human participants. Upon acceptance of a manuscript, authors must sign and return a copyright agreement.
