Existential Psychotherapy: Special Considerations in Working with Young Men

Abstract

Existential therapy is a form of treatment provided by clinical psychologists in the tradition of exis- tential psychotherapy. In its modified form as existential therapy, it is an especially effective means of working with young males. The paper discusses current problems facing providers of treatment with young males, the existential tradition in clinical practice, unique features of male disposition and development, and several examples of how the existential approach can meet the needs of young males.
